Carpet Cleaning Advertising: The Minimum in the Headline, and the Ads That Fill a $182 Job Schedule
Carpet cleaning advertising is a minimum-charge business
The average completed carpet cleaning job is $182, and the coupon mailer has spent thirty years teaching homeowners that three rooms should cost $99. Every carpet cleaning ad that makes money does one thing first: it puts the minimum in the headline, so the click is from a customer who will book three rooms at $125 or more rather than one at $45.
The calendar is a fall peak with a January upholstery bump. Google Ads data puts "carpet cleaning near me" at about 165,000 US searches in September and 90,500 in December, "upholstery cleaning near me" peaking in January, and "rug cleaning near me" in April (US monthly volumes via DataForSEO, pulled September 5, 2026). Our carpet cleaning pricing guide covers the per-room and per-square-foot rates and why the minimum decides the business; this guide is the paid and printed channels, their prices today, and the copy.
| Channel | 2026 cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Google Local Services Ads | About $42 per charged lead | Whole-house jobs in the September peak |
| Google Search ads | $5.12 to $13.28 per click | Carpet in the fall, upholstery in January, tile and grout all year |
| The property-manager turnover flyer | Printing and a visit | Move-out cleans every week, no coupon |
| Facebook and Nextdoor | Free to low | The before-and-after stain, to your own zip codes |
| Door hangers | About $0.09 each printed | The ten houses either side of a whole-house job |
| The truck wrap | $3,000 to $5,500 | Every driveway you park in |
Prices were checked on September 5, 2026, and each links to where it came from.
Before you spend: the minimum on the page
A carpet cleaning click that lands on "$25 a room" books one room and loses money on the drive. Three things have to be true before any channel below is switched on:
- The minimum, framed as three rooms. Our pricing guide puts per-room rates at $25 to $75 with a $100 to $150 minimum, and the framing that converts is "the minimum is $125, which covers up to three rooms". Put it on the profile and every page.
- A page per service with a price. Carpet, upholstery, rugs, tile and grout, and pet treatment are separate searches with separate seasons, and each page carries its price and its before-and-after. Our carpet cleaning SEO guide builds those pages out surface by surface and times them to the September peak.
- Twenty reviews that name the stain. BrightLocal's 2026 consumer survey (BrightLocal sells local SEO software) found 47% of people will not consider a business with fewer than 20 reviews. "Red wine on cream carpet, gone, $145 for three rooms" is the review that wins the next click. Ask by text as the hoses go back on the truck.
Our Google Business Profile guide covers the profile; the category is "Carpet cleaning service", and the carpet cleaning page shows what a site with a page per service looks like.
Google Local Services Ads: whole-house jobs only
Local Services Ads sit above the map, charge per lead, and carry the Google Verified badge that replaced Google Guaranteed in October 2025 after a background check. Carpet cleaning is its own eligible category.
What it costs. 99 Calls publishes its clients' numbers: for September 2026 the average charged carpet cleaning lead was $41.81, the median $35.89 and the typical range $32.79 to $62.69, from five campaigns over three months. At a 40% close rate that is about $105 per booked job against a $182 average, which only works if the job is a whole house at $200 to $500 and never if it is one room. Our carpet cleaning leads guide ranks it against every other channel at the $125 minimum.
How to set it up.
- Enable carpet, upholstery and tile; set the minimum in the business description so the caller knows before dialling.
- Budget for ten leads a week from August to October and half that in January for upholstery.
- Answer on the first ring with "how many rooms and any pets?" and text a price with the three-room framing.
- Dispute the junk: out of area, single-room enquiries under the minimum if Google's rules allow, spam.
- Apply in July so the ad is live by mid-August.
Google Search ads: the minimum in the headline
Clicks cost about $13.28 for "carpet cleaning near me", $10.64 for "upholstery cleaning near me", $8.72 for "rug cleaning near me" and $5.12 for "tile and grout cleaning" (Google Ads averages via DataForSEO, September 2026). A $13.28 click at a one-in-eight conversion is about $106 per booked job, which pencils on a $300 whole house and loses on $182 average, so the headline carries the minimum to filter the click before it costs anything.
The carpet ad, for the September peak:
Carpet Cleaning in [Town] | 3 Rooms $125, Dry in 4 Hours Truck-mounted hot water extraction, pet treatment available, no hidden charges. Count your rooms and book online for this week. Sitelinks: Prices by room · Pet stain treatment · Book online
The upholstery ad, for January, when the term peaks and the click is cheaper:
Upholstery Cleaning in [Town] | Sofa and Loveseat $149 Sectionals, dining chairs and mattresses too. Same-week slots, before-and-after photos of every piece.
The tile ad runs all year on the cheapest term in the trade, at $5.12 a click:
Tile and Grout Cleaning in [Town] | Grout Lines Back to New Kitchens and bathrooms from $X. Add it to a carpet clean and save $40.
The rules:
- Exact and phrase match on the job, with negatives for "rental", "machine", "diy", "jobs", "$99" and "how to".
- Your zip codes only.
- Send each ad to its own page with the price and the minimum, never the homepage.
- Start at $20 to $40 a day in August, switch to the upholstery ad in January, and keep the tile ad on all year at $10.
The property-manager turnover flyer: the jobs that never see a coupon
A property manager with fifty units has a carpet clean at every turnover, on a deadline, with nobody comparing coupons. It is the most profitable customer in the trade and no search ad reaches them; a flyer and a visit do.
The flyer, one page, both sides:
Front: [Before-and-after of a turnover unit.] Turnover carpet cleaning, done between the walk-through and the new lease. [Company name.] Flat rate per unit, 48-hour turnaround. Back: One-bed $X, two-bed $X, three-bed $X, stairs and hallways included. Pet treatment and deodorising on request. Photos to your file after every unit. Licensed and insured, certificate on request. [Number, email.]
How to run it:
- Visit five management offices a month, with the flyer, a certificate of insurance and a one-page price sheet. The manager keeps the sheet on the wall.
- Price by the unit rather than the room, and include the stairs, because a manager wants one number.
- Send the photos. A before-and-after texted after every unit is the reason the next turnover comes to you.
- Add short-term rental hosts, realtors and office managers to the same visit list. Each holds ten jobs a year that never see a coupon.
A book of five managers is a hundred jobs a year at $200 with no click cost, and it runs in December when the residential searches are lowest.
Social and print for the residential side
Facebook and Nextdoor. The before-and-after that works in this trade is the stain: the wine, the pet accident, the traffic lane, shot from the same angle before and after. Boost it at $5 a day to a 3-mile radius around last week's jobs in September, and post it free on the Nextdoor business page, where "can anyone recommend a carpet cleaner?" is asked every fall. The copy: "Three rooms and a hallway on [Street] yesterday, $165, dry by dinner. Booking this week."
The door hanger. One online printer lists 1,000 door hangers for $93.51. On the ten houses either side of a whole-house job, the same day:
Front: [Before-and-after of the traffic lane at number 42, with permission.] We cleaned the carpets at number 42 this morning. Back: Same street this week: 3 rooms $125, dry in 4 hours, pet treatment available. Book: [QR code, number.]
The truck wrap. A carpet van is parked in a driveway for two hours a job, and one national wrap shop's 2026 guide puts a full cargo van wrap at $3,500 to $5,500, which over five years is $60 to $90 a month. The copy is the minimum and a number: "3 rooms $125. Dry in 4 hours. [Number, QR code.]"
What not to spend on
- The $99 coupon mailer. It trained the customer to expect the price that loses money, and every job it produces is a one-room call with a drive attached. If you mail, mail the three-room minimum with a photo.
- Shared lead marketplaces. A $182 job cannot carry a lead fee shared with three competitors. Our Thumbtack and Angi breakdowns have the numbers.
- Search ads without the minimum in the headline. A $13 click that books one room is a loss on the drive alone.
- Cold social ads with stock photos. The real stain is the channel.
- Radio and billboards. Untargeted and unmeasurable for a business that sells $182 jobs one house at a time.
- Search ads on "carpet cleaning cost". That searcher is reading three cost guides and will book the lowest number, so the click pays for a comparison you lose. Rank the cost page organically instead and let the minimum do the filtering.
Budgets by season, and the one number to track
The budget follows the fall peak and the January bump:
- All year: the property-manager visits, five a month, and the tile ad at $10 a day.
- July: apply for Local Services Ads; build the carpet, upholstery, rug, tile and pet pages with prices and the minimum.
- August to October: Local Services Ads at ten leads a week, the carpet Search ad at $20 to $40 a day, the stain before-and-after on Facebook at $5 a day, hangers on every whole-house job.
- November and December: everything at half budget; the manager book carries the month.
- January: switch the Search ad to upholstery; Local Services Ads at five leads a week.
- February to July: the rug ad in April; otherwise the tile ad and the managers.
The number to track is cost per booked job and average ticket, by channel, by month, with a tracked number on the ads, another on the hangers and the van, and "how did you hear about us" on every booking. A $182 job at 45% gross margin leaves about $80; any channel booking jobs under that is working, and any channel dragging the average ticket under the minimum is the coupon mailer wearing a new name.
Where ServicePro fits
Every ad above lands on a page, a profile and a phone, and ServicePro is those three at software prices: marketing agency support at $99 a month rather than a retainer. The free plan builds a site from your Google Business Profile in about five minutes, on your own domain, with up to five service pages (carpet, upholstery, rugs, tile and grout, pet treatment) to carry the minimum and send each ad to, a booking page the hanger's QR code opens, an inbox for every call and message, and five review requests a month.
Pro is $99 a month, no contract, and adds the pieces the ads depend on: a tracked phone number with two-way texting and missed-call text-back, Google Map rank tracking for "carpet cleaning near me" across every town you serve, up to 25 location pages, 100 automatic review requests a month with AI-drafted replies, and the stain before-and-after posted for you to your Google Business Profile and to Facebook and Instagram.
We do not run your ads or wrap your van. The carpet cleaning page shows what the site and the rank tracking look like for this trade.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best way to advertise a carpet cleaning business?
Put the minimum in the headline everywhere: "3 rooms $125, dry in 4 hours" on the Google Search ad, the profile, the door hanger and the van. Run Local Services Ads at about $42 a lead for whole-house jobs in the September peak, switch the Search ad to upholstery in January, and visit five property managers a month with a per-unit turnover price, because those jobs never see a coupon.
How much do carpet cleaning leads cost on Google Local Services Ads?
99 Calls' client data for September 2026 puts the average charged carpet cleaning lead at $41.81, the median at $35.89 and the typical range at $32.79 to $62.69, from five campaigns. At a 40% close rate that is about $105 per booked job, which works on a $200 to $500 whole house and never on a single room, so put the minimum in the business description.
Are Google Ads worth it for carpet cleaning?
With the minimum in the headline, yes. "Carpet cleaning near me" costs about $13.28 a click, and at a one-in-eight conversion that is about $106 per booked job, which pencils on a whole house and loses on one room. Upholstery clicks are cheaper at $10.64 and peak in January; tile and grout at $5.12 is the bargain of the trade and runs all year.
How do carpet cleaners get property management work?
With a flyer, a visit and a per-unit price. Five management offices a month, a one-page sheet with one-bed, two-bed and three-bed turnover prices including stairs, a certificate of insurance, a 48-hour turnaround promise, and before-and-after photos texted after every unit. One manager with fifty units is a hundred jobs a year that never see a coupon.
Should carpet cleaners use coupon mailers?
Only with the minimum on the coupon. The $99 three-room mailer trained thirty years of homeowners to expect a price that loses money, and the jobs it produces are one-room calls with a drive attached. A mailer that says "3 rooms $125, dry in 4 hours" with a real before-and-after photo is a different ad, and Every Door Direct Mail delivers it for $0.26 a piece.
What should a carpet cleaning ad say?
The minimum, the dry time and a booking link. "3 rooms $125, dry in 4 hours, pet treatment available. Book online for this week." The before-and-after of the stain does the persuading. For January, swap in the sofa: "Sofa and loveseat $149, same-week slots."
