Mobile Detailing Advertising: Cheap Clicks, Expensive Coatings, and the Ads That Fill the Van

Mobile detailing advertising has the cheapest clicks in home services

Google Ads data puts "car detailing near me" at about 301,000 US searches a month at $2.68 a click, and "mobile detailing near me" at 60,500 at $3.04, against $7.52 for pressure washing and $45 for an HVAC repair (US monthly volumes and average CPCs via DataForSEO, pulled September 5, 2026). That is the whole opportunity and the whole trap. Clicks are cheap because the average job is a $158 basic package, and the detailers who make money on ads are the ones who point the cheap clicks at the expensive jobs: ceramic coating at $900 to $2,500, paint correction, boats and RVs.

The second fact is that the work is a video. A 15-second interior transformation is the most-watched content in home services, and it costs nothing to make. Our mobile detailing page shows what a site for this trade looks like; this guide is the paid and printed channels, their prices today, and the copy.

Prices were checked on September 5, 2026, and each links to where it came from. Our mobile detailing leads guide ranks the same channels by cost per booked package and per coating.

Before you spend: the package page every ad lands on

A $3 click that lands on a page with no prices calls the next detailer. Three things have to be true before any channel below is switched on:

  • Packages with prices, by vehicle size. Housecall Pro's 2026 guide, citing an Autodetailer.com survey of 89 mobile operators, puts the basic mobile package at $158, standard at $278 and premium at $443, with full details by size from $150 for a small car to $500 or more for a large SUV. Publish your own numbers in that shape, with a page each for interior, exterior, full detail, ceramic coating and boats and RVs.
  • Twenty reviews with photos. BrightLocal's 2026 consumer survey (BrightLocal sells local SEO software) found 47% of people will not consider a business with fewer than 20 reviews. Detailing reviews with the customer's own before-and-after photo are the most persuasive in home services.
  • Online booking with a slot and a card. The detailing customer books from the phone at 10pm; a booking page with the package, the price and a deposit converts the cheap click before it goes cold. Our mobile detailing software roundup prices the tools that take that booking, Urable included, which is built around packages by vehicle size.

Our Google Business Profile guide covers the profile, and the category to pick is "Car detailing service".

Google Search ads: point the cheap clicks at the expensive jobs

Clicks cost about $2.68 for "car detailing near me", $2.59 for "interior car detailing near me", $3.04 for "mobile detailing near me", $7.54 for "ceramic coating near me", $4.06 for "boat detailing near me" and $3.20 for "rv detailing near me" (Google Ads averages via DataForSEO, September 2026). A $2.68 click that converts one time in ten is $27 per booked $158 basic; fine, but thin. A $7.54 click at the same rate is $75 per booked $1,500 ceramic coating, which is the best paid arithmetic in this guide.

The ceramic coating ad:

Ceramic Coating in [Town] | We Come to You, 2-Year Protection Professional paint correction and ceramic coating in your driveway. Packages from $900, with before-and-after photos of every car we've done. Book a slot online. Sitelinks: Coating packages and prices · Before and after gallery · Book online

The interior ad, for the cheap term:

Mobile Interior Detailing in [Town] | From $158, Booked Online Seats, carpets, vents and glass, done in your driveway while you work. See the price for your vehicle size and pick a time.

The rules:

  • Exact and phrase match on the job, with negatives for "diy", "products", "kit", "jobs", "near me free" and "how to".
  • Your zip codes only, with a radius no larger than the van's morning.
  • Send each ad to its package page with the price by vehicle size, never the homepage.
  • Start at $10 to $20 a day. The clicks are cheap enough that $20 buys real data in a week.
  • Run the coating and boat ads in spring and the interior ad all year. "Mobile detailing near me" peaks in June and "ceramic coating near me" in October, when the first cold rain arrives.

Instagram, TikTok and Facebook: the transformation clip

Detailing is the one home service where social advertising is the primary channel rather than a supplement, because the before-and-after interior is genuinely watchable and the audience is everyone with a car.

The ad:

Video: 15 to 30 seconds. The back seat with the crumbs and the stains, the extractor, the same seat after, then the exterior beading water. Same angle before and after. Primary text: This one took us three hours on [Street] on Tuesday. Full detail for a mid-size SUV, $278, in the customer's driveway while she worked. Book a slot for this week below. Headline: Mobile detailing in [Town], from $158 Button: Book now (to the package page)

How to run it:

  • Targeting: a 5-mile radius around last month's jobs, 25 and up. Skip interest targeting.
  • Budget: $5 to $10 a day, all year, on Instagram and Facebook; TikTok Spark Ads on the organic clip that did best, when one takes off.
  • Organic first. Post every job as a Reel and a TikTok before paying for anything. A detailer with a following looks established to the local customer checking the profile, and the clip that goes viral is the one to put money behind.
  • The coating ad is a different clip. Water beading on a black hood, the number "$900" on screen, the two-year line. Run it in September and October to the same radius.
  • Nextdoor: the business page and its posts are free; post the clip and answer the "anyone know a detailer?" threads with the package page before paying for a local deal.

The van wrap and the parking lot

A mobile detailer's van is parked in a driveway or an office lot for three hours per job, in front of people with cars. Two channels follow from that.

The wrap. One national wrap shop's 2026 guide puts a full wrap on a cargo van at $3,500 to $5,500, which over five years is $60 to $90 a month for an ad parked next to the customer's neighbours. The copy is a menu:

Detailed in your driveway. Interior from $158 · Full detail from $278 · Ceramic coating from $900. Book: [QR code]. [Number.]

The parking lot. One detailer in an office park with permission is ten cars in one place and no drive time between them. The flyer that gets the permission and the bookings:

Lunchtime detailing at [Office park]. We're here every other Thursday. Interior $158, full detail from $278, done while you work. Book your slot: [QR code].

The same play works at gyms, apartment complexes, car dealerships (used-car reconditioning at a flat per-car rate), fleet yards and marinas for the boat season. Each needs a one-page price sheet, a certificate of insurance and a visit in person. It is the cheapest channel in this guide and it produces the route density that makes a mobile business profitable.

Google Local Services Ads: mostly not available

Local Services Ads, the pay-per-lead units above the map with the Google Verified badge, are the first paid channel for most home services, and for detailing they mostly do not apply. As of June 2026, an industry list of eligible categories shows "Car Wash and Detailing" only in Google's automotive group for California and Florida, and no detailing category in the home-services group elsewhere.

If you are in one of those states, apply: pay-per-lead with Google's own screening mark is worth testing at a small budget, with the job types limited to full details and coatings. Everywhere else, the map pack and the Search ads above are the Google channels, and the profile with twenty photo reviews is what wins the map. Google adds categories on a rolling basis, so check the Local Services Ads sign-up page for your market once a season.

What not to spend on

  • Search ads on the cheap terms without a price on the page. A $2.68 click is cheap; forty of them landing on "call for a quote" is $107 for nothing.
  • Cold social ads with stock photos. The real back seat is the whole channel.
  • Marketplace and gig-app leads. They price the job at the app's rate and the customer books through the app next time. Our Thumbtack breakdown has the numbers.
  • Coupon mailers and radio. Untargeted and unmeasurable for a business whose customers are ten cars in one lot.
  • Discounting the basic package to win the click. A $99 interior is a loss once drive time is counted; advertise the price you can do the work for and let the clip persuade.

Budgets by season, and the one number to track

Detailing demand is flatter than most trades ("car detailing near me" runs 246,000 to 368,000 searches a month all year), so the budget runs all year and shifts by job type:

  • All year: the transformation clip on Instagram and Facebook at $5 to $10 a day, the interior Search ad at $10 a day, the van wrap, the parking-lot visits.
  • March to June: the full-detail and boat ads, when "mobile detailing near me" peaks in June and "boat detailing near me" in May.
  • September and October: the ceramic coating ads on Search and social, when "ceramic coating near me" peaks at 49,500 searches.
  • December: gift-card ads on social, which sell interiors for January.

The number to track is cost per booked job by package, by channel. A tracked number on the ads, another on the van, and "how did you hear about us" on every booking. At 50% gross margin a $158 basic leaves about $79 and a $1,500 coating about $750; a channel booking basics for under $30 and coatings for under $200 is working, and the coating number is the one that decides whether the ads scale.

Where ServicePro fits

Every ad above lands on a page, a profile and a booking slot, and ServicePro is those three at software prices: marketing agency support at $99 a month rather than a retainer. The free plan builds a site from your Google Business Profile in about five minutes, on your own domain, with up to five service pages (interior, exterior, full detail, ceramic coating, boats and RVs) to carry the packages and send each ad to, a booking page the van's QR code opens, an inbox for every call and message, and five review requests a month.

Pro is $99 a month, no contract, and adds the pieces the ads depend on: a tracked phone number with two-way texting and missed-call text-back, Google Map rank tracking for "car detailing near me" and "ceramic coating near me" across every town you serve, up to 25 location pages, 100 automatic review requests a month with AI-drafted replies, and the transformation clip posted for you to your Google Business Profile and to Facebook and Instagram.

We do not run your ads or wrap your van. The mobile detailing page shows what the site and the rank tracking look like for this trade.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to advertise a mobile detailing business?

The before-and-after clip, posted organically to Instagram and TikTok on every job and boosted at $5 to $10 a day to your own zip codes, plus Google Search ads on the expensive jobs: ceramic coating at $7.54 a click and boats and RVs at $3 to $4, sent to a page with prices by vehicle size. The van wrap and office-park visits produce the route density that makes the mobile model profitable.

Are Google Ads worth it for car detailing?

Yes, and they are the cheapest clicks in home services: about $2.68 for "car detailing near me", $3.04 for "mobile detailing near me" and $7.54 for "ceramic coating near me". The arithmetic works when the click lands on a page with prices by vehicle size, and it works best on ceramic coating, where a $7.54 click at a one-in-ten conversion is $75 per $900 to $2,500 job.

Can mobile detailers use Google Local Services Ads?

Mostly not. As of mid-2026 the only detailing category ("Car Wash and Detailing") appears in Google's automotive group for California and Florida. Elsewhere the Google channels are the map pack, won by a complete profile with photo reviews, and Search ads. Check the Local Services Ads sign-up page for your market once a season, since categories are added on a rolling basis.

How much should a mobile detailer spend on advertising?

Around $300 to $600 a month all year: the transformation clip at $5 to $10 a day, the interior Search ad at about $10 a day, and seasonal Search ads for boats in spring and ceramic coating in the fall at $10 to $20 a day. Cap each channel at about $30 per booked basic detail and $200 per booked coating, roughly the gross profit on each.

Should a mobile detailer wrap the van?

Yes. A full cargo van wrap runs $3,500 to $5,500, which over five years is $60 to $90 a month for an ad parked in customers' driveways and office lots for three hours a job. Put the package menu with prices, the number and a QR code to the booking page on both sides and the back doors.

What should a mobile detailing ad say?

A price by vehicle size, "in your driveway", and a booking link. "Full detail for a mid-size SUV, $278, done while you work. Book a slot for this week." The clip does the persuading; the copy gives a number and a next step. For coatings, add the protection period and the from-price: "Ceramic coating from $900, two-year protection."

A mobile detailing business starts for $1,500 to $3,500 with a pressure washer, a polisher, a vacuum and a generator in the car you already drive, and the insurance that matters is the one most new detailers skip: garage keepers liability, because the customer's car is in your care. Packages at $158 to $443 fill the day; ceramic coating at $900 to $2,500 is the margin. What it costs, what to charge, and how the first ten cars come from a phone, priced September 8, 2026.
