The rest of this post is why the cheap click is the whole strategy, and the order to build the channels in.

The number that matters is the package, and then the coating

A $158 basic package cannot carry a $40 marketplace lead; a $443 premium can carry a $7.54 click ten times over; and a $900 to $2,500 coating can carry almost any lead on this list. The trade's economics are a stack: the clip and the office park fill the day with packages at near-zero acquisition cost, and the paid channels are pointed only at the coating, where the ticket makes the click trivial.

So this post ranks every channel twice, by cost per booked package and by cost per coating, and the answer is the same in both columns: the owned channels first, the cheap click on the expensive job second, and the marketplaces last. Our mobile detailing advertising guide covers the ads and the copy; this post is the leads.

Why mobile detailing is its own animal

The clicks are the cheapest in home services. $2.68 for "car detailing near me" against $22.88 for an electrician and $13.28 for a carpet cleaner, because the average job is small. That makes Search viable for a trade that would otherwise be priced out of it, provided the click lands on a page with packages and a booking slot.

The customer books from a phone at night, and needs a number. A profile or page without package prices sends the 10pm booker to the next detailer. Packages by size and a slot with a deposit are the conversion path, and they are why the leads below only work once the page exists.

Twenty cars share a parking lot. Home services usually means one job per drive. An office park is twenty potential jobs with no drive between them, and a fleet is twenty a month on one invoice. Route density in this trade is a parking lot, not a street.

The clip, the lot and the fleet: the leads that cost nothing

The transformation clip. A thirty-second before-and-after of a filthy interior, filmed on the phone and posted the same day with the package price in the caption, to Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and the Google profile. It is the storefront and the ad, and it is why a one-person operator with a kit in the trunk can look busier than a shop. Boosted at $5 a day to your own zip codes it becomes the cheapest paid channel on this list.

The office park. A flyer with the packages and a QR code left with reception, and a Tuesday spent in the lot doing the first three at a neighbour price. Every car detailed in a lot is seen by the owners of the cars either side of it for the rest of the day.

Dealerships and fleets. A used-car lot details every trade-in before it goes on the line; a delivery fleet needs it monthly. One email with a per-car volume price. This is the account that fills the calendar in January when nobody is searching.

Google: the cheap click, pointed at the coating

Search ads. Clicks cost about $2.68 for "car detailing near me", $2.59 for "interior car detailing near me", $3.04 for "mobile detailing near me" and $7.54 for "ceramic coating near me" (Google Ads averages via DataForSEO, September 2026). The $2.68 click is fine for a $278 package; the $7.54 click on a $900 to $2,500 coating is the best paid lead in the trade. "Ceramic coating near me" is searched about 33,100 times a month and peaks in October. Send each click to the matching package or coating page, never the homepage.

Local Services Ads. Google lists a "Car Detailing Service" category. In practice our advertising guide found it unavailable in most markets tested, so check yours before building a plan around it; where it exists, the pay-per-lead model suits the coating and not the basic package.

The profile. Primary category "Car detailing service", packages by size in the services list, and every transformation photo. Our Google Business Profile guide covers the setup and the website design guide the packages and the booking slot.

Marketplaces: Thumbtack and Angi at a $158 package

Thumbtack. Pipeline On's May 2026 analysis puts most home-service leads at $25 to $75, with every responder pays and 78% of homeowners choosing the first contractor to reply; detailing is not broken out. A $40 lead against a $158 package that closes one in five is $200 per booked job, which is more than the job.

Angi. LeadTruffle's 2026 guide (LeadTruffle sells lead-qualification software) puts most contractors at $15 to $85 a lead, shared with three to eight, plus about $300 a year and a reported $400 monthly minimum on twelve-month contracts. A twelve-month contract for a trade whose clicks cost $2.68 is money spent to lose a price war.

Neither pencils on a package. Both could pencil on a coating, if the platform sold that customer, and neither reliably does.

So what should you do?

Week one: profile and page live with packages by size and a booking slot with a deposit. Film every job.

Weeks two to four: a clip per job, posted the same day; one weekday in an office park with the flyer; the volume-price email to five dealerships and five fleet managers.

Month two: boost the best clip at $5 a day to your own zip codes; run the Search ad at $7.54 a click pointed at the coating page; ask every customer for a review by text as the keys go back.

October: the coating month. Every package customer hears about it; the ad budget goes there.

Every month: count cost per booked package and per coating by channel. The clip and the lot will win on packages; the $7.54 click will win on coatings; the marketplaces will not appear. The mobile detailing start guide covers the kit and the insurance if you are still deciding.

Where ServicePro fits

ServicePro is the getting-found and getting-booked half of this post as software: the profile, the page with packages by size, and the booking slot with a deposit that turns the 10pm click into a kept appointment. The free plan builds it from your Google Business Profile in about five minutes, on your own domain, with up to five service pages, an inbox for every call and message, and five review requests a month, with no per-lead fees at any volume.

Pro is $99 a month, no contract, and adds Google Map rank tracking for "car detailing near me" and "ceramic coating near me" across every town you serve, up to 25 location pages, a tracked phone number with two-way texting so the night booking gets an answer, 100 automatic review requests a month with AI-drafted replies, and the transformation clip posted for you to your Google Business Profile and to Facebook and Instagram.

The mobile detailing page shows what the site and the rank tracking look like for this trade, and own your leads is the longer argument.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do mobile detailing leads cost in 2026?

Google Search clicks are the cheapest in home services at $2.68 for "car detailing near me", $3.04 for "mobile detailing near me" and $7.54 for "ceramic coating near me". Thumbtack runs $25 to $75 a lead where every responder pays and Angi $15 to $85 shared with three to eight, neither of which pencils on a $158 package. The transformation clip and the office park flyer cost nothing.

Are Local Services Ads available for mobile detailing?

Google lists a "Car Detailing Service" category, but our advertising guide found it unavailable in most markets tested. Check your own market before planning on it; where it exists, the pay-per-lead model suits ceramic coating far better than a basic package.

What is the best way to get detailing customers?

Film a before-and-after of every job and post it the same day with the package price in the caption. Spend a weekday in an office park with a flyer at reception, because twenty cars share one lot. Email dealerships and fleet managers a per-car volume price for the January calendar. Point the $7.54 Search click at the $900 to $2,500 coating, not the $158 package.

Is Thumbtack worth it for car detailers?

No. Pipeline On's 2026 analysis puts most home-service leads at $25 to $75 with every responder paying, and a $40 lead against a $158 package that closes one in five is $200 per booked job. A Search click for the same customer costs $2.68 and comes only to you.

How do detailers get ceramic coating customers?

"Ceramic coating near me" is searched about 33,100 times a month and peaks in October, and the click costs about $7.54 against a $900 to $2,500 job. Run the ad to a coating page with the price and the process, and offer the coating to every package customer on the same visit; the package fills the day and the coating pays the year.

What should a mobile detailing lead be worth?

Judge it against the package it books: $158 basic, $278 standard, $443 premium by Housecall Pro's survey of 89 operators, or $900 to $2,500 for a coating. A lead that costs more than 10% of the package is expensive in this trade, because the owned channels produce the same customer for nearly nothing.

A mobile detailing business starts for $1,500 to $3,500 with a pressure washer, a polisher, a vacuum and a generator in the car you already drive, and the insurance that matters is the one most new detailers skip: garage keepers liability, because the customer's car is in your care. Packages at $158 to $443 fill the day; ceramic coating at $900 to $2,500 is the margin. What it costs, what to charge, and how the first ten cars come from a phone, priced September 8, 2026.
