The rest of this post is why the calendar matters more than the channel, and the order to build them in.
The number that matters is the week, not the lead
A $40 lead in the second week of October is a $168 job and a neighbour. The same $40 lead in the fourth week of November is a job the leaves have already done, for a customer who will not remember you in March. Gutter cleaning demand is a spike, and the value of a lead is mostly when it arrives.
So this post ranks every channel by cost per booked house, and then by whether it can be switched on in September. The channels that can are the owned ones: the profile, the page, the mailer, the hangers and last year's list. The paid channels are for the gaps in the October calendar, and they are priced for it: $25 to $80 a lead is the fall rate, not the spring one. Our gutter cleaning pricing guide covers the job; this post is the leads.
Why gutter cleaning is its own animal
There is no Local Services Ads category. Google's category list has no gutter cleaning entry; the job sits inside "Window cleaning services" as a job type. A gutter-only business advertises as a window cleaner that does gutters, which is fine, and is another reason most gutter businesses are also window businesses.
The customer is annual and forgetful. Gutters clog every fall, and almost nobody puts "gutters" in their calendar. A text in mid-September to last year's list is the highest-converting lead in the trade and it costs nothing; the first-year lead is the only one worth paying for.
Every street has the same trees. A ladder against one house is an ad to the ten either side, whose gutters are full of the same oak. The neighbour hanger is the cheapest lead in home services, and in this trade it is also the most relevant one.
The owned channels: the list, the street, the mailer, the page
The list. Everyone from last October, texted in mid-September: "Leaves are coming. Same price as last year for a slot before the 20th?" Ten years of this is a business that never buys a lead.
The street. A door hanger at about nine cents (1,000 for $93.51) on the ten houses either side of every job, with the two-storey price and a QR code. A yard sign from $10.99 for a week, if the customer allows it.
The mailer. USPS Every Door Direct Mail at $0.26 a piece with a 200-piece minimum per carrier route, to the routes with the most mature trees, in the last week of September. Two thousand pieces is $520; at a half-percent response that is ten houses at $52 each, and every one produces neighbours.
The profile and the page. Primary category "Gutter cleaning service", a secondary of "Window cleaning service", the price by storey in the services list, and twenty before-and-after photos of full and empty gutters. Our Google Business Profile guide covers the setup. Nextdoor is a free business page where "anyone do gutters?" is asked in every neighbourhood every October.
Google: Local Services Ads under window cleaning, and Search in October
Local Services Ads. Apply under "Window cleaning services" with gutter cleaning selected as a job type, in August, because verification takes weeks. 99 Calls publishes no gutter figure; the industry range is $25 to $80 a lead, rising in the fall peak, and a February 2026 dataset of 888 contractors across home services put the average lead at about $53 with roughly 44% booking. At $50 and 44% that is about $115 per booked house against a $168 job with neighbours; it pencils in October for the gaps in the calendar, and it does not pencil in March.
Search ads. Clicks cost about $15.03 for "gutter cleaning near me", $14.07 for "gutter cleaning services" and $22.06 for "gutter cleaning companies" (Google Ads averages via DataForSEO, September 2026). Send the click to the page with the price by storey, run it from the last week of September to the middle of November, and turn it off. Our window cleaning advertising guide has the copy for the same ladder in the other season.
Marketplaces: Thumbtack and Angi at a $168 job
Thumbtack. Pipeline On's May 2026 analysis puts most home-service leads at $25 to $75, with every responder paying and 78% of homeowners choosing the first contractor to reply; gutter cleaning is not broken out. At a $168 job, a $40 lead that closes one in five is $200 per booked house, which is more than the house.
Angi. LeadTruffle's 2026 guide (LeadTruffle sells lead-qualification software) puts most contractors at $15 to $85 a lead, shared with three to eight, plus about $300 a year and a reported $400 monthly minimum on twelve-month contracts. A twelve-month contract for an eight-week season is ten months of paying for nothing.
Both can fill a week in October. Neither is a way to start.
So what should you do?
August: profile and page live with the price by storey; Local Services Ads applied for under window cleaning; three houses on one street cleaned and photographed.
September: the text to last year's list on the 15th; the mailer to the treed carrier routes in the last week; the Search ad written and scheduled.
October: ads on for the gaps; every job gets the hangers on its neighbours, the sign, a guards offer, and a review request by text with the before-and-after.
Mid-November: ads off. Count cost per booked house by channel; the list and the hangers win, the mailer is close, and the paid channels filled the gaps. Put the winter into windows and pressure washing on the same ladder. The gutter cleaning start guide covers the costs and the other ten months if you are still deciding.
Where ServicePro fits
ServicePro is the getting-found half of this post as software: the profile, the page with the price by storey, and the booking page a door hanger or a mailer opens. The free plan builds it from your Google Business Profile in about five minutes, on your own domain, with up to five service pages, an inbox for every call and message, and five review requests a month, with no per-lead fees at any volume.
Pro is $99 a month, no contract, and adds Google Map rank tracking for "gutter cleaning near me" and "window cleaning near me" across every town you serve, up to 25 location pages, a tracked phone number with two-way texting and missed-call text-back for the calls that arrive on the roof, 100 automatic review requests a month with AI-drafted replies, and posts written and published for you to your Google Business Profile and to Facebook and Instagram.
The gutter cleaning page shows what the site and the rank tracking look like for this trade, and own your leads is the longer argument.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do gutter cleaning leads cost in 2026?
About $25 to $80 a lead on Google Local Services Ads in the fall by the industry range (there is no gutter category; the job sits under Window cleaning services, and 99 Calls publishes no gutter figure), $14.07 to $22.06 a click on Google Search, $25 to $75 on Thumbtack where every responder pays, and $15 to $85 on Angi shared with three to eight. A door hanger on the neighbour of a job is about nine cents.
Are Local Services Ads available for gutter cleaning?
Not as its own category. Google's list has no gutter cleaning entry; gutter cleaning is a job type inside the Window cleaning services category, so a gutter business applies as a window cleaner that does gutters. Apply in August because verification takes weeks, and expect the fall rate of $25 to $80 a lead.
When should I advertise gutter cleaning?
September, for October. "Gutter cleaning near me" goes from 33,100 searches a month in March to 60,500 in October, and the companies that are booked by the second week of October did their marketing in September: the text to last year's list on the 15th, the carrier-route mailer in the last week, and the profile and page live in August.
What is the cheapest way to get gutter cleaning customers?
Last year's list, texted in mid-September, because gutters clog every fall and nobody remembers to book. After that, a door hanger at about nine cents on the ten houses either side of every job, because every house on the street has the same trees, and a free Nextdoor business page where "anyone do gutters?" is asked every October.
Is Thumbtack worth it for gutter cleaning?
To fill a week in October, maybe. Pipeline On's 2026 analysis puts most home-service leads at $25 to $75 with every responder paying and 78% of homeowners choosing the first reply; at a $168 job and a one-in-five close that is about $200 per booked house. Angi's twelve-month contracts are the wrong shape for an eight-week season.
How much is a gutter cleaning customer worth?
$168 on average this fall, the same again next fall if you text them in September, a spring visit if you offer it, and a guards install at several hundred dollars if they are tired of the annual clean. A customer kept for five years is close to $1,000 from one lead, which is the number to judge the lead against.
